ABOUT DR. BASSMAN
Donald R. Bassman, M.D., is a board certified orthopedic surgeon, who specializes in arthroscopic knee and shoulder surgery, knee and hip replacement surgery and sports medicine. His practice is located at 522 North New Ballas Road in St. Louis. His Illinois offices are located in Breese, and Fairview Heights. He is on staff at Missouri Baptist Hospital, Des Peres Hospital, The Advanced Surgical Care Center, Barnes West County, Barnes-Jewish Hospital, and St. Louis Children’s Hospital. In Illinois, he is on staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese.
A native of St. Louis, Dr. Bassman is a graduate of Washington University’s School of Medicine. He is a third generation physician; both his grandfather and father were general practitioners in St. Louis. His uncle and cousins are physicians, as well. He feels that his greatest influence was his college physics professor, Franklin Shull. He credits his mentor, general surgeon Gene Bricker with Barnes Jewish Hospital, for instilling in him a solid work ethic and the importance of patient respect.
Associations:

In his free time, Dr. Bassman enjoys golf and listening to country/blue grass music. He and his wife have been married for twenty-nine years and have three daughters. His oldest daughter attends St. Louis University Law School. Another studies Bioethics at Columbia University in New York. Their youngest daughter attends John Burroughs School.
Dr. Bassman takes tremendous pride in seeing his patients improve and genuinely enjoys the day to day challenges and the personal attention he is able to provide them.
